Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications was established in 2001 by telecommunications leader Ericsson and consumer electronics powerhouse Sony Corporation. The company is equally owned by Ericsson and Sony.


Sony Ericsson is responsible for product research, design and development, as well as marketing sales, distribution and customer services. The company's global management is based in London, has R&D in Sweden, Japan, China, US and UK, and in total has approximately 3,500 employees around the world. President is Katsumi Ihara, and Executive Vice President is Jan Wäreby.
