China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC for short) was founded on Jun. 3rd 1997. It is a nonprofit-making organization of administration and service, performing duties of National Internet Network Information Center. The run and management work of CNNIC is done by Computers Network Information Center of Chinese Academy of Science. In scope of business, CNNIC is under the leading of Ministry of Information Industry, and administratively it is under the leading of Chinese Academy of Science. CNNIC Work Committee supervises and evaluates the construction, run and administration of CNNIC.
Main jobs of CNNIC are as following:
Registration Service: CNNIC provides domain names registration, IP addresses distribution, autonomous system codes (AS codes for short) distribution, and so on.
Catalogues Database Service: CNNIC will set up national catalogues database of highest level, and provide information inquire service of network consumers, addresses, domain names, AS codes, and so on.
Information Service: CNNIC makes statistics of developing situations of Internet in China. It also provides inquire service of policies and regulations of Internet network in China, and other Internet-related data.
Attestation Service of Net Station Visitors Flow: In order to promote the healthy development of Internet information service trade in China, and suggest a standard of attestation of net station visitors flow, CNNIC provides visitors flow service to all net stations.
Attestation Training: In order to promote the popularization and development of Internet in China, CNNIC provides Internet technology & application training of all levels to the society, by setting up many courses to consumers of any level.
Furthermore, CNNIC also undertakes national scientific research items related to Internet, and provides technological consult and service of Internet to the society.
CNNIC, being a Internet Network Information Center of national level, gets in touch on behalf of network organizations of China with other Internet network information centers such as International Network Information Center (InterNIC for short), Asia & Pacific Ocean Internet Network Information Center (APNIC for short), and so on.
